Your transformative journey to Stay in Namobuddha Monastery: Live Like a Monk begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu. After meeting your guide, you’ll travel along the scenic Araniko Highway, passing through Banepa before reaching the hillside town of Dhulikhel (1,550m) — an ancient Newari settlement known for its cultural richness and panoramic Himalayan views, including glimpses of Mount Everest on clear days.
Dhulikhel marks the starting point of your gentle hike to Namobuddha. The trail begins through terraced farmland, vibrant with seasonal crops, and traditional villages where time seems to move slowly. As you walk past settlements like Khasu and Palekh, take moments to interact with locals, observe daily life, and enjoy the serenity of the natural surroundings.
The trail continues to Kavre Bhanjyang, where you’ll briefly cross a main highway. From here, the path ascends steadily through a scenic ridge, offering spectacular views of rural villages nestled across rolling hills. This peaceful stretch is perfect for mindful walking and reflection.
Closer to Namobuddha, the route enters tranquil woodlands. The gentle rustling of leaves, birdsong, and occasional wildlife sightings accompany your final steps toward the monastery. By afternoon, you will arrive at Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, one of Nepal’s most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites.
After checking into your monastic accommodation, enjoy a fresh vegetarian lunch prepared with organic local ingredients. In the evening, immerse yourself in a guided session with the resident monks—an introduction to Buddhist chanting, meditation, and the monastic way of life.
