The trek starts from Rumtse village which is located in the eastern region of Ladakh. While trekking to Tsomoriri lake you will get to explore the untouched regions of the Changthang valley. While trekking you will follow the group leader who will guide you through your journey. The support staff moves ahead of the group and gets the campsite ready before the trekkers reach the place. Meals for the trekkers are prepared by a cook. On the way to Tsomoriri, you can meet the nomads of the Changthang valley, visit ancient monasteries and capture numerous species of wildlife and migratory birds. You will cross several rivers and high passes. From the top of the passes, you will get to enjoy magnificent views of the Zanskar ranges and panoramic views of the Changthang valley. Upon reaching the highest pass during the Rumtse Tsomoriri Trek - Yalung Nyau La you would get to enjoy a beautiful view of the Tsomoriri Lake surrounded by high snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you would also visit the Tsokar lake which is also known as the white lake because of the large concentration of salt that gets deposited on its banks. As you trek on the salty shores of the lake, you might be able to see folks of endangered migratory birds such as black Necked cranes and bar-headed geese along with local wildlife residents such as Tibetan sand grouse, brown-headed gulls to name a few. The Rumtse tsomoriri Trek would end in a small village known as Korzok village which is about a 6 hours journey from Leh. The ride to Leh is bumpy till you reach the Indus River after which you will find well-tarmac roads making the final part of the journey very comfortable.
