Day 1 Cusco – Ollantaytambo – KM 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 am and then, we transfer from your hotel to the train station of Ollantaytambo and leave on the 6:10 am train, the train journey follows the Urubamba River (one of the sources of the Amazon River) to Kilometer 104 (trailhead), which takes about three hours. Along the way, you will see spectacular views of the farmlands, snow-capped mountains, and the fantastic panoramas of the Andes mountains. At Km 104 we will get off the train and then, we will cross the footbridge over the Urubamba River and register with park officials who will check our permits of the Inca trail 2-day to Machu Picchu. After passing the Inca Trail checkpoint. We will visit our first Inca site called Chachabamba, and after our guided trip, we will begin hiking upwards to Wiñay Wayna (forever young). On the way, we will enjoy beautiful orchids, wildlife, and a stunning view of the Sacred Valley while our guide points out different flora and fauna along the trail. We will then pass a tall waterfall before reach to the most beautiful Inca Trail´s site called Wiñay Wayna at (2,650 m / 8,700 ft.), which is named after an orchid and means Forever Young in Quechua. After lunch at Wiñay Wayna, we will continue our hike on the gentle trail for about 1 ½ hour and arrive at the sun gate (2,720 m / 8,920 ft.) which is called Intipunku in Quechuas. This is where we will have our first glimpse of Machu Picchu Inca city with beautiful mountains surrounding the area and from there we will begin our descent to Machu Picchu ruins. The advantage of the Inca trail 2 days to Machu Picchu hike, is that by the time we reach Machu Picchu ruins, most of the day travelers will have returned home, so you will have the area to yourself. After taking photos, we head down to the ruins to take a bus down to Aguas Calientes and head to your hotel. Following, the natural hot spring in town is an unbeatable way to spend a late afternoon / early evening if the time is available before dinner. After dinner, our guide will tell you the schedule for the Machu Picchu tour and recommend going to bed early to make the most of the next day.

Day 2 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Citadel – Ollantaytambo – Cusco We will wake up early to have breakfast at your hotel and then we will board the bus to make the 25-minutes ride to Machu Picchu. Arrive on time for the sunrise. Then you will have a 2 ½ hour walking guided tour of Machu Picchu by your private English-speaking guide as early as possible when the ruins are relatively peaceful before the daily train arrives with other visitors from Cusco. After the Machu Picchu tour, you will have plenty of time to enjoy and explore the magical ruins by yourself or climb Huayna Picchu mountain if you have purchased a ticket to do so. When you are done exploring, return to Aguas Calientes by bus for the lunch before taking the 2:55 pm Expedition train to Ollantaytambo and then we will travel by private vehicle to Cusco. The Short Inca Trail 2 days to Machu Picchu will end at your hotel in Cusco.
