Day 1 Luang Prabang We depart from Luang Prabang at 8:30 AM with a local Songtheow truck heading north for Ban Hadkhang then to Huay Leun, which takes us approximately 1.5 hours.
10:00 AM Once in the village, we begin our trek through local farms and vegetation which is getting gradually replaced by dense jungle. We immerse ourselves into the beauty and diversity of the local flora and fauna. It is like venturing into another world under the canopy of huge trees with orchids, ferns, creepers and more. The delightful sounds of abundant bird life add to the unique atmosphere in this wonderful forest. 12:00 noon A Lao style picnic lunch will be prepared at a beautiful spot in the jungle. For the next one and a half hours, we continue trekking through a bamboo forest before it goes downhill where farming plots now determine the landscape along the Nam Ou river. We cross the river on a longtail boat to reach the Tai Lue village around 4:00 PM on the other side where a local family will be our host for the night. Approximately 2.5 hours transfer (round trip) and 4-5 hours trekking
Day 2 Ban Hadkhor We get up early in the morning to chill out for a while in the fresh air of the rising day. 8:30 AM After breakfast, the guide will give you a short introduction to the basics of kayaking and safety instructions. We then head off downstream and will soon meet the first easy rapids! 9:00 AM Along the way on the Nam Ou, we pass majestic steep cliffs and villages almost untouched by modern civilization. 11:00 AM We paddle further downstream until pausing for a delicious picnic lunch at one of the most scenic of locations, a beautiful white sandbank amidst really amazing surroundings! After lunch, we have some time for a relaxing break and swim in the cool waters of the river. The afternoon is spent paddling in a calmer section of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers. Along the way you have the opportunity to watch villagers fishing and harvesting river weeds which they process into a tasty snack by drying, seasoning, and frying it! It is also a must to stop at the famous Pak Ou (Buddha) Cave to see the hundreds of Buddha statues, small and big in this culturally and historically significant cave! We continue paddling down the Mekong and make a stop at Lao whiskey making village. After a short stopover here we paddle on for another 30 minutes down to Pak Xeung where our truck or
