The Ridomo Gorge trail from Vorio to Pigadiotiko Gefiri (Pigadiotis Bridge) and back is a stunning and adventurous hike that takes us through one of the most picturesque natural landscapes in Greece. Ridomo Gorge, located in the Taygetus mountain range near Kalamata, offers breathtaking scenery with its rugged cliffs, lush vegetation, and crystal-clear streams.
We begin our hike from Vorio village, which is situated at the northern entrance of Ridomo Gorge. Vorio (or Voreio) is a traditional Greek mountain village surrounded by forested slopes and stunning vistas.
The trail follows a path that descends into the gorge from Vorio village, leading through rocky terrain, forests of pine and cypress trees, and alongside the gorge’s stream. The total distance of the hike from the village to Pigadiotiko Gefiri and back is approximately 13 kilometers (both ways). The duration of the hike can take around 3 to 4 hours one way, depending on our pace and stops. In total, it can take around 6-7 hours.
While descending into Ridomo Gorge, we are enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys as we make our way down. Stunning views of the rugged cliffs, lush vegetation, and the clear waters of the stream that runs through the gorge, we’ll be treated!
Carry plenty of water and snacks to stay hydrated and energized during the hike.
Bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, as parts of the trail may be exposed to the sun.

We follow the trail alongside the stream, crossing small wooden bridges and navigating rocky sections. Take in the beauty of the natural surroundings, which may include waterfalls, pools, and unique rock formations.
We continue hiking downstream along Ridomo Gorge until we reach Pigadiotiko Gefiri, the historic stone bridge that spans the gorge. This is a picturesque spot to rest, where we will enjoy a snack and take photos of the scenic landscape.
