DETAILS
This trip is called super Safari for a reason: it’s really two trips in one! Start your day by visiting St Catherine’s Monastery – the very site mentioned in the Bible where God talked to Moses at the burning bush. Then travel on to the spectacular Coloured Canyon for a labyrinth-like walk among the rainbow rock formations. Finish the day with a trip to the delightful city of Dahab for lunch and shopping. Start the day with a guided tour of St Catherine’s monastery. Located on the very ground where God was said to have appeared to Moses in the Burning Bush, this is a very important site for Abrahamic religions and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world, with a history that can be traced back over seventeen centuries. The monastery pre-dates the divisions of the Christian world, its origins extending to late antiquity and amazingly is still inhabited by the same order of monks who constructed it in the 4th century! After just over an hour in the 4x4, we'll arrive at the maze of sandstone rocks known as the Coloured Canyon! We'll take the well-trodden but by no-means easy walk through the Canyon, climbing boulders, and ladders, squeezing through tight rock formations and cracks and openings in the canyon. It's a great experience that binds the group together and you'll find most of the way the group will be laughing and helping each other over the occasionally difficult climb. Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in the small coastal town of Dahab which has grown from the small Bedouin fishing village to one of the best places in South Sinai for shopping and dining today. Attracting large amounts of tourists every year the resort of Dahab has so much going on but still manages to maintain a feeling of calm and relaxation. You'll have some time to explore Dahab's coffee shops, bazaars, shops and restaurants as you browse the many local Egyptian handicrafts, carpets, jewelers, perfumes, papyrus, and other souvenirs on sale here. Price Includes: All transfers by an air-conditioned vehicle English speaking guide Entrance fees to St. Catherine National Park Bedouin guide during your visit to the canyon Lunch Mineral water and soft drink on board the vehicle All taxes & service charges Not included: Personal expenses Drinks in the restaurant Any extra fees not mentioned in the program
