The trip begins with mandatory acclimatization for 1 day and then exploring the Stout or Upper Indus valley which is one of the unique experiences in Ladakh, the valley offers to witness some of the world-renowned ancient monasteries and drive along the upper Indus River makes the journey more perfect. On our guided day tour of the Stout valley, our local expert will take you to a few of the most spectacular and renowned monasteries in Ladakh and give you a glimpse of the local culture, history, and heritage. The U.T Kangri Mountain Peak is the newly scaled prominent snow-capped peak as you trek on the Rumtse Phu trail. This peak was accessible to tourists in 2019 after successful scaling by certified guides of the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association. ‘Phu’ generally means pastureland in Ladakhi. The Rumtse Phu is the main pasture land for nomads residing around the villages of Gya-Meru. The Rumtse Phu lies at a height of around 4900m above sea level. The highest sleeping altitude is at base camp which is 5230m above sea level. The Expedition to the peak is divided into 10 days and will have plenty of buffer days to ensure that you are well acclimatized to the high altitude and to counter cases of bad weather or any other conditions that you may face during the climb. Buffer days for acclimatization is very important as a mountaineer who is well acclimatized would have an easier time trekking and the only tedious day during the whole trip would be the day when we will climb the Summit which is about 10 - 12 hours round trip. During the summit climb of U.T Kangri, you will be roped up as you would be climbing over a steep slope in deep snow conditions which may hamper your walking speed considerably. If the sky is clear during the summit climb you would be able to see part of Markha valley and the eastern Karakoram range. Highlights Climb the peak of Mount U.T Kangri (6070 m). Rich Panoramic views of the Karakoram ranges throughout the trek.
