Quito is one of Latin America’s most compelling cities, known as “the face of God” Guarded by the Ring of Fire, the Andes mountain range, with its protectors: the Rucu Pichincha, Guagua Pichincha, Antisana, Cayambe, Cotopaxi, Pululahua, Atacazo, Ilaló, and Sincholagua volcanoes. This gives it a spectacular natural landscape; no matter where you look, you’ll find one of these sleeping giants.
Ecuador’s capital combines modern and colonial architecture and offers a fascinating setting for visitors. In addition to being the country’s political center, it is also its cultural capital thanks to its churches, museums, festivals, and nightlife.
Our offices are located in the central part of the city, surrounding a commercial area full of shopping malls, bars, restaurants, and shops for all tastes.
Upon arrival at the office, we’ll help you with the necessary documentation and provide you with the selected equipment, as well as your chosen rental motorcycle. After this brief but essential briefing, you’ll be ready to take control of your route with complete confidence. We want every curve and every kilometer traveled to make you feel proud of your skill and every achievement on this two-wheeled adventure.
Quito is located 2,800 meters (9,000 feet) above sea level. We begin our adventure with a short but adrenaline-filled road, perfect for training the bike for the next few days. After crossing the city and experiencing a few of its contrasts, we bid farewell to the asphalt to begin the first dirt section of our adventure. This road takes us through small, colorful towns, where we’ll see the city of Quito, with its unique topography: an Andean city spread out in a valley surrounded by peaks, where you can see snow, forest, and clouds all in one view, from above, while little by little the city landscape becomes only nature.
After a few minutes, the weather begins to change. From a typical mountain climate, we begin to feel a little warmer, the perfect moment to take a break and splash our heads under a refreshing waterfall with a view of the mountains surrounding Quito: Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui, Ilaló, Antisana, Cayambe, Pululahua, Rucu Pichincha, and Guagua Pichincha.
We resume our journey, and it’s time to enjoy the ride along the river that forms the waterfall on a path that encourages us to accelerate and experience the power offered by our adventure companions. This river will be our ally throughout the day until we reach our hotel, and we will have moments when we lose sight of it only to find it again. After traveling along the dirt road, we will take a break at the hotel located on the banks of the river that accompanies us the entire way. We will have a delicious lunch and enjoy a delicious dip in the pool or head toward the enigmatic Devil of Tandapi.
Legend has it that the figure of the devil appears with a terrifying appearance at nightfall, covered in fog, at a place where the mountains and the coast meet. This has fueled stories of apparitions and that the site “crosses the path of the afterlife,” and we will learn a little about its history. After a day full of surprises, we will prepare for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
