Suggested Itinerary

Lahad Datu's Rainforest Encounter

Touch down in Lahad Datu early and hop on a 90-minute ride to a quiet place in the rainforest. Once you get there, check into a friendly wooden house and listen to a talk with pictures about the amazing nature around. The place is full of life with many different birds, bugs, and little animals, even close to where you're staying.

After eating lunch at the house's cafe, take some time to rest before the 3:00 PM tea break. As the day gets later, walk for about 20 minutes into the rainforest to a high spot on a mud volcano. This is where lots of animals and birds like to hang out. Climb up high to see the difference between the bare mud and the thick forest around it, and look for animal tracks. If you're brave, try the mud that's said to be good for your skin. Then, walk back along the path where elephants go.

After dinner, go on a night walk to see what animals and birds are awake at night. Look up at the clear sky, find the stars, and maybe make a wish.
