Begin your birding adventure with a scenic drive from Addis Ababa to Awash National Park in the Afar region. The park’s open savanna and acacia woodland host many unique bird species. During the journey and afternoon exploration, you may spot Abdim’s Stork, Kori Bustard, Yellow-necked Francolin, Black-headed Lapwing, Red-bellied Parrot, Abyssinian Roller, Blue-naped Mousebird, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, and Abyssinian Ground Hornbill.
